Why I work for Soapbxx
An artist by training, I'm happiest in jobs where I can be creative. With Soapbxx, I can make art for others and translate their needs in creative ways. The flexible company structure allows me to work on my own art.
Find me on the Web
I have my own website called 3am-studio.com. It's currently under construction with a design waiting to be turned into a template. I'm also on DeviantArt as kimikiti, Twitter as 3am_studio and Facebook as myself. I also do print graphic design, illustration and copyediting.
My life so far
I went to Sarah Lawrence College, which is an open curriculum school with an amazing student-to-teacher ratio. Since I didn't have to choose a major, I studied a lot of different things: mythology, Japanese, Japanese religion and culture, artificial intelligence, history of computers, creative writing, drawing, bookmaking, printmaking and painting, the origins of the universe and science, digital espionage...Did I leave anything out? I originally went to school for journalism/writing, but I wanted to be more visually creative. A friend of mine also pushed me to find a job or an internship that would allow me to be more creative, which is how I came across Soapbxx and met Amanda. And after doing newspaper and magazine layout for nearly six years, it was a natural transition. However, I push myself to read and learn more about accessible, usable and beautiful design. I want to create a streamlined process for translating clients' desires into interfaces that the user loves.
After graduating from college, I decided to stay in New York and figure out how to live on my own in the Big City. The experience is rough sometimes, but I'm always amazed by the adventures I can have here. My favorite place to visit is the Museum of Natural History.
Things I like
My favorite hobby is trying new hobbies: I've tried comic book collecting, card collecting, drawing comics, pet care, knitting, palm reading, and on and on.
